Through a metaphor to express happiness and excitement in our relationships, American Greetings positions itself as a tangible medium for lasting and meaningful connections.

Spatial Flow
Designing the guest flow and experience from selecting a card, personalizing it, and sending it.

Gardens, Nostalgia, and Butterflies
An American Greetings branded environment for writing greeting cards, inspired by brand colors and garden elements.

Interactive Exit Experience
Acknowledging the act of sending written cards takes more time and effort by visually and tangibly highlighting the emotional connection guests will create with their recipients.
Fluttering Emotion
As guests approach the mailbox, a camera detects their envelope and causes butterflies to fly to it.
Butterflies Scatter
A box will prompt guests to hold up their envelope, which will signal the butterflies to scatter! Ready to send that card now…
A Personal Thanks
A burst of butterflies appear with a personalized thank you message for taking the time to send a physical card at the pop up experience.

Reflection
This project was mostly self managed with concept development and presentations. I felt that I was able to take myself through the initial phases of research about the client and location, then using that as justification and inspiration for my pop-up concept and spatial design.
There was several elements to present in this project, and on a conceptual level I think things made sense, but I do think somewhere I can improve upon with further iteration is the visual consistency of the digital visualizations and the physical interaction.
